♥ David, our wonderful dad passed away very unexpectedly at home on January 15th 2005. He died of a broken heart - he had never got over losing Rita, his wife of over 46 years, to cancer in April 2001.
♥ Born in East London on February 18th 1934, David was the seventh of Lydia and Harry Poole's eight children and loved all his family passionately. He especially loved family occasions and get-togethers and took great delight in seeing his family all together.
♥ David was in the building trade all his life, starting out as a chippie and bricklayer and retired as the General Manager of a large building company. During National Service David was in the London Royal Fusiliers and served in Korea and Egypt between 1951 and 1954.
♥ In April 1955, David married Rita, his childhood sweetheart and they had two children, Judy and David. As their children, we can truly say that we had the most loving upbringing and the happiest childhoods imaginable... so much love and so much laughter! David's grandchildren are: Mark, Paul, Katie, Bryony, Angelina and Tabatha who was born in 2006 after David passed away, but she is learning what a smashing grandad he was already! He was Father-in-Law to Heather and Adrian.
♥ "What can we say dad - we'll never get over losing you, but we know that you just couldn't live without 'Your lovely Reet'... Thanks for trying so hard for us though. We know you and mum are together again."
With Love,
Judy and David

OUR HERO
When we were just small children
Our 'Hero' dad, was you
There was nothing you couldn't fix
Or find a way to do.
You were so strong and perfect
In our young adoring eyes
We knew no other dad could be
So wonderful and wise.
Although we see a lot of things
Much differently these days
You're still our shining hero
In so many special ways.
For now we're not together, dad
Every day we still think of you
This man we're very proud of
And we give our love to you...

Just beyond the sunset
Someone waits for me
Just beyond the sunset
Lies my destiny
Where the purple mountains
Lie in deep tranquillity
There I’ll find the treasure
Of love eternally
Just beyond the sunset
Waits someone so fair
Just beyond the sunset
All alone they wait there
Their hair is golden
The colour of the sand
Their eyes sparkle in the night
Like diamonds in your hand
Just beyond the sunset
Lies a home for me
Where the world is peaceful
Like a paradise should be
Just beyond the sunset
Someday is where you’ll find me
